DevRickus
NEW YORK POST: Larry Brooks reports Rangers GM Glen Sather has told the agents for Jaromir Jagr, Brendan Shanahan, Sean Avery, Martin Straka and Michal Roszival that he has no intention of tendering them contract offers before July 1st, making them UFAs free to entertain offers from elsewhere. Sather will check in with Jagr and Shanahan but he won
Devils731
I wonder what Straka is going to be looking for on the open market.

Triumph
I wonder what Straka is going to be looking for on the open market. Hopefully not a job with the Devils, as he is washed up. Also, re: Avery, it says he is 'increasingly unlikely' to come back to the Rangers, not that it's a certainty. He and Malone will compete for the worst contract handed out this off-season. DaneykoIsGod
Seems pretty definite to me. Actual quote from the article: it appears increasingly likely Avery will not be invited to return The quote in the first post looks like Spector paraphrasing. RunninWithTheDevil
Actual quote from the article:The quote in the first post looks like Spector paraphrasing. Well, then there's this he has no intention of signing any of them Thats pretty definite. prior to July 1 After July 1? This is confusing. I hope Avery gets picked up by the Thrashers. That would be funny just to see his career go bye-bye.
devils26
Hopefully not a job with the Devils, as he is washed up. He's certainly not as good as he once was, but he's not completely useless. Straka can still move his feet and get a little offense going, which is a big thing the Devils were missing this year. Clearly he's not the ideal solution, but would be a decent stop-gap until next off-season if nothing presents itself in the coming months. stevestevens
The Rangers have always loved switching up their lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if they scrapped what they had and went for players like Tucker and possible Campell.
BlueSkirt
I think that article is worth the paper it is printed on and nothing more. Anyone, or none of those players could be back - just like Salvador could or could not be back with the Devs next season. When you see an actual quote from the GM or player, then you can put some weight on it. Larry Brooks reports is not the same as Larry Brooks spoke with Sather (or agents) and they stated such and such
Devs4LIFE
Please G-d let Avery go to the Islanders so that the Rangers fans can see what a bitch he really is.

sundstrom
again - be prepared for the rangers to land at least one and likely two of the bigger UFA's. They will definitely get one of Campbell/Redden. Of this I have no doubt.
stevestevens
Did anyone see Avery call himself the "fashion police" at some convention? I don't remember what it was but he said his job was "to make sure everyone looks good." It wasn't his most manly moment.
SatansDevils
GOOD! Good Bye and good writens to Avery! I hope he goes back out West so we do not have to deal with his moron antics. Rangers are going to lose more than just Avery I have a feeling.

MantaRay
Sather inadvertently just cut out Avery's contract leverage with the rest of the league by making this public. I still would not rule him out in New York though.

Satans Hockey
I think he could end up with the Rangers again anyway. It really depends on how much other teams offer him. We already know that the Wings and Kings won't offer him anything, neither will the Devils. So if the rest of the teams in the league don't think he is worth as much as he thinks he is than he'll probably end up signing with the Rangers since he apparently likes it here so much. devilsfan26
I can't believe we have 5 people who want him to go to the Islanders. We would still end up playing them the same amount of times, I just want him the hell out of the division if not out of the conference so we can just forget about him.
