SBT
Teemu declined a player option for next season. Perhaps the California lifestyle was not as good as he thought. Too bad he didn't think about this before he refused to waive his no-trade clause. To think he could be playing for NJ in the playoffs right now. Serves him right. DevilMinder
Man, if those rumors were true then he is a bonafide idiot.

westcoastdevfan
Selanne signs with the Ducks for about 3 million a season. Then Sykora on a line with Selanne score 50 goals.
Rock
In the spirit of other posts and the movie: Quack Quack Quack, Mr. Selanne.
GetReal
I feel he is making a financial mistake to go UFA. That was a good offer.. With the troubles ahead for the NHL and Players maybe no one will sign him other than the Rangers and maybe they will clean up their act this year. Risky
I really think he's going to be a Duck as well.
kenrock
Selanne signs with the Ducks for about 3 million a season. Then Sykora on a line with Selanne score 50 goals. If the Devils would have gotten him, he would have walked away just the same...regardless of the end result. Him and Paul Kariya are really good friends and they want to play together again--it was that or nothing for Selanne. However, Anaheim didn't want to trade for him back in March cuz Selanne would have activated the option for sure and they don't have a Scott Gomez-type player laying around to trade (not that the Devils would have been smart to do so either)--now Anaheim can get him next season for a lot less--next FA season will not be a buyer market with the CBA looming. Having said all that, I doubt he will get $3 mil and I doubt he will help Sykora get to 50, but future highlights of the pair will no doubt bring double the pain and suffering to Devils fans...but then again we are used to that by now (Rolston, Mitchell, Morrison, Sykora, Arnott, AlMo, Holik, etc). insanity_gallops
He's goin' to Anaheim, I've been sayin' it all year -- if the Sharks didn't make the playoffs or do well this season, he'll go back to playing with Kariya. That's where my money's at.

SC Devs Fan
Wherever he goes, he has shown he's not someone who ares about the playoffs. Wherever he goes he'll be overpaid. I wanted him at the deadline but am glad knew his character.
Jerrydevil
Yes, we've certainly found out how important the playoffs are to Mr. Selanne. People talk about how he's a cinch to go to Anaheim. Why the hell would they want him?
Triumph
You know, I don't believe for a second that Teemu turned down New Jersey, and if he did, it was the right move.. has anyone noticed how Owen Nolan and Tony Amonte are doing? When will people learn, trading for scoring at the deadline doesn't work. Anyway, if he is planning to go back to the Ducks, it would be for the playoffs.. add Selanne to that roster, a year-older Chistov, maybe some more depth on the backline, and that's a team capable of upsetting a top seed again next year. San Jose has no chance of making the playoffs next year and Teemu knows it.

puck
Selanne has forever stamped himself as a loser. He would not allow a trase to a contender and his only legimate shot at winning a cup because he wanted to stay with the Sharks and then he turns doen the option. If he wanted to go to teh Ducks he could have played this spring in NJ and then went back to LALA land..he shall heretofore be known as the cowardly lion...no heart. Another holikesque move. Jerrydevil
Let him be a Duck. But if I were Anaheim's GM, I wouldn't want him. What kind of player turns down a trade to a contender, and then later decides to leave the team he originally decided to stay with? He's a big, fat CHICKEN, not a Duck! Zamode
Apparently he's counting his chickens/ducks/dollars before they're hatched. NJ doesn't need a prima donna.
