He didn't get any dumber presumably - and this is a guy who 2 years ago put up 59, hell I'd take last year's 39 or whatever it was. He didn't dumb his way into scoring that much. And he's still only 30. The point was given his age, it was a thought where - he has two years left on the deal - perhaps he needs to train differently for the last (presuming) 5-7 years of his career. Not so much strength, but for leaness and speed.

Like I said - he didn't get dumber, lost a half a step - maybe. See what losing some pounds does.

If he could find a way to put up 40 points, I think we all would accept some mistakes here and there. it's when you don't get the points, then wtf are we doing?

im not saying he's dumber but he's probably less focused or driven, i dunno. I actually don't think that it's impossible to assume that all the sh!t he does is taking away focus from his game or may have some impact. I'm not saying 100% that this is it, i obviously dont know. But the same thing was said about Ronda Rousey who started to play in movies,  became a model and did the whole celebrity thing. Her fighting went down drastically and she was not as driven and focused on just fighting. She had a major decline.

Plus when you've been traded twice, god knows how it can affect you after you felt you gave everything you had to a team.

Just like im sure "some" guys have kids and its changing their perspective about life and their focus is not as sharp in other aspects of their lives... everyone is different and affected by different things.

Quickly, went to this game, had agood feeling about it and was areal game until the third.

Caps were worried until that 4 on 4 with wood, not saying that was the cause of course.

But it went from one game to another at that point, either way this is ateam you can root for imo.

Did anybody else see the graphic in the post game where it showed the Caps with 27 scoring chances on 29 shots!! Absurd and almost impossible to believe, I've never seen anything remotely close to that.

Yeah pretty sure I had to choke back vomit on that one...

I'm clearing off my DVR and on the post game show from Wednesday against Anaheim we had 20 scoring chances on 20 shots.

Power lifting isn't slowing him down.. he's not a fast skater  but he is shifty. This escape moves are still at a high level and hes still decent on the boards,,,as SD said, his vision is the issue.. guy needs to realize he makes bad decisions and needs to work on zone transition..

His play is a continuation of what's been happening for a couple seasons now. I'm sticking with that ship has sailed and Ray while trying to help made a bad call it happens.

I also struggle to understand when people say hey Poile and Shero are good friends so did he really try and rip him off? Hell yeah friends or not if someone is will to drastically over pay and it benefits your team he's gonna take the deal. What's the other option Poile says he look the guy's in serious decline so no thank you come back with a smaller offer I refuse to take your overpayment. Crazy talk.

Crazy talk is saying we “drastically overpaid” to get Subban. C’mon now. It’s not working out, and he gets paid a lot of salary, but we gave up what Daniel would call a “magic beans package” to acquire a former Norris Trophy winner.

I never said we have overpaid when it comes to what we gave up others have. We overpaid drastically for the contract. Did we have the money to piss away cap wise sure. However I would say it's never a good job to pay 9 for a 4M dollar player for 3 years. Just like in life the goal should be to get what you paid for. Shero missed badly and again I'll say it happens. Swing and a miss. Sooner they move on the better imo.

All of a sudden 12 years into a career - his vision is the problem? I am just not buying that. If anything - he maybe a tad slower than he used to be, and it's causing the decision he used to make a lot - to not go the way they used to. If you want to say he needs to think the game differently at his age, I can buy that -or I am wondering if the muscle is slowing him down at 6-1 210, where maybe he can get a half step from being 6-1 200.

As for "sooner they move on, the better" - his contract isn't movable. Best would be to try and revive him, and try to work with him and change him.

All of a sudden?!?!  Hes been on 3 teams now going on 4.. hes hardly a plus minus warrior, career wise.  His skating is still very good  are you saying his skating is bad? Or his stick handling.. the guy has always had the wrap of bad hockey sense for all his skating talent.. plus hes too flashy... defensively hes very inconsistent.  I dont think hes a major problem with this team, how bad will or defense be without him.?
