oofrostonoo
What do we need? I think we are pretty stacked:Brylin/Elias-Gomez-Gionta Langs-Madden-Pando Oliwa-Ras-Marshall Freeze-Parise-Kozlov <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That Oliwa, Ras, Marshall line scares me. In a bad way. El Diablo
I think we get Rob Niedermayer as compensation. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We get the mother.......
MadDog2020
Who thinks Madden would be good trade bait for a more attackive minded centre? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Double no.
SC Devs Fan
What do we need? I think we are pretty stacked:Oliwa-Ras-Marshall <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that line will be good for about 4 goals this year!
BlueSkirt
Malakhov is now in the devils page on the NHLPA listed at 3.6 per year. I don't think this is his actual salary though I think they just moved him from the Rangers page and left his previous salary. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, 3.6 is correct. 2 year deal. Weekes Head
I say go after Kariya and Selanne <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Selanne's probably done with the NHL, and as much as I love the Buttbuddies, I'd rather them not play here...
bg.
Malakhov is a few things... a) big, must be 6'5 230 or so. b) talented. can skate and has a big shot. c) mid-30's. d) a tough SOB thing is... he has always been a guy who more is expected from, and the 1 or 2 times he might drop the gloves this season...I expect him to more than handle his own. If the Devils fit him into their system and he is successful, its a credit to their system and their coaching staff. Do not make this for more than it is. Overall he is a very avg NHL defensemen, do not expect miracles.
BlueSkirt
but at that salary, you just know Lou has him penciled in as the #2/#3 D-man. he will see alot of PK & PP time. in fact the one thing he may not see is a lot of 5-on-5 action ! MantaRay
He played well in our system in 2000 and Larry brought the best out in him as his coach.
BlueSkirt
but that was for a total of 40 games - can he play at that level for 82 + playoffs ? that is the question of the day...

He's not physical for what he SHOULD be, he has the size and he doesn't use it to his advantage. Plus, he tends to be injury prone. Overall, he's decent and could surprise us. I think he's capable. Question is, will his heart be in it?

BlueSkirt
true, i forgot about matvichuk/raffi as probably the #1 PK unit. with white/malakov as # 2 and of course, there is Stevens - should he play. that could be his specialty role Edited August 4, 2005 by BlueSkirt
