MadDog2020
Roman Jedlicka @jedli: Jaromir Jagr said after practice w/ national team he will continue in #njdevils team. He said he already has agreement with the club.
DJ Eco
I know people will say we should be getting younger, bla bla bla, but the numbers Jagr had this year, and the influence he can have on our younger players makes his presence on our team invaluable. Very glad he's back, he certainly earned it, with his play.

Triumph
Figured/hoped when he said he was playing in the WC that this was the case. He's going to slow down sometime but last year was not that time.

devilsrule33
I can't imagine him getting a dollar less than last year. I imagine $4.5-5 million. Devils desperately needed Jagr, so this is only good news.
DJ Eco
a jagr quote via a czech user on hfboards : "we had very good team in NJD. we should play in play off this season so next season with one or two changes we can even go further in play off. we also had perfect coach" Before I even saw this quote, I was going to say that this is a great indication of Jagr's vote of confidence in DeBoer. We all know how badly he wanted playoff hockey, we all know the kind of numbers and play he put up this year. If I were Jagr, I would think at least ONE playoff team would want my services come July 1st, and yet, he re-signs with Devils 2 weeks after elimination in April. Very interesting. Derlique
Contract is decent... Jagr was top 30 in scoring last year
caron14
could be less then 5 millions.... It's is between with 5-6 millions with all bonuses... I believe it would start around 3-4 millions
devilsrule33
Lavoie says it's a 5M contract with possibility of being 6M with bonuses. Is Jagr making $5 million or $6 million going to change anything Lou does? I doubt it. Not worried about dollar amount on a 1-year contract. coldply123
This is going to be his last contract with us and probably in the NHL. I don't care too much as basically it's just moving Brodeurs money to him. We do need to get younger and faster though at forward. We are clearly going to need to trade. What evidence is there that Jagr is washed up? He just scored 67 points and drove play to a ridiculous extent. There's no reason why he can't play 2 or 3 more seasons if he stays even close to this level. Now he might prefer playing in another league than playing the Teemu Selanne role of the last 2 years where he's on the 3rd line and PP, but he was one of the NHL's best forwards last year. Devils731
Great that Jagr is back. Does this also mean Jagr believes the team will be making additional moves to get better?
devilsrule33
Great that Jagr is back. Does this also mean Jagr believes the team will be making additional moves to get better? Who knows what Lou says in private, but I thought it was funny what he said in his end of season presser to the media: Q: A few Devils players at times this season have said they need a top scorer added to the roster. Obviously, it’s easier said than done. Nobody is going to hand you Sidney Crosby, but is that something you really feel this team needs going forward? Lamoriello: “Well, let me put it to you this way: I've love to have that player who said that to you tell me. He should never worry about what you don't have. He should make the most of what you have. And that to me is something I don't really like to hear, that a player would be worried about what we don't have. Their job is to perform within the abilities that we have. It's what you make out of what you have, not what you don't have." All year, Jagr and Brodeur got free rein to say what they wanted, so maybe Jagr was able to extract that from Lou, but I doubt it. And the wheels with Jagr will come off quickly at some point. He looked really sluggish at times the second half this year. He also produced because this system is tailor made for players with certain liabilities. We got killed in a lot of odd man rushes and will do so again next year. I also doubt Jagr puts up close to his production this past season.I like Jagr but I'd rather spend 5 or 6 million on something younger and more investment worthy over a build forward term in 2015. This coming season I could care less as unless Lou makes serious improvements this team won't make the playoffs.
