NJDevs4978
Man...in so many ways that mask seems so, well, not Marty. It almost looks like something you'd see designed by a fan ("Check out my idea for a new mask for Marty!"). I was gonna say it looked like something Udx came up with Pretty lame Marty. Last I checked it's not the New Marty Devils. Does any other goalie put their initials on their helmet? It's his helmet, why can't he put his name and number on the helmet? It's already on the uniform. Yeah it looks a bit out of place but who really cares, it's like Elias when he has the bizarre hair streaks or when someone else shaves their head or gets a pornstache, sometimes players just want to break the monotony. Devil Dan 56
Pretty lame Marty. Last I checked it's not the New Marty Devils. Does any other goalie put their initials on their helmet? Most goalies have their nickname and number. Thats been going on for a long time. It's a goaltenders way of expressing themselves. Its no different than if he put 'Marty' on there. Its just on the top instead of the chin.
brodeurgirl30
It is amazing how people always moan about the lack of marketing and then when someone finally does it, he is selfish and not team oriented. I honestly think he had a logo designed for some golf towels, said hey that's pretty cool, and the next thing you know it's on his helmet. I don't think there was deep thinking going on about self promotion. He knows people are reluctant to accept change, and I think it only looks weird because he had the other one for so long. Other goalies personalize their helmets with things that have nothing to do with the team other than a color scheme. Cam Ward has Blackbeard's ship on his, and John Grahame had a half naked woman and some NASCAR stuff. Marty knows it's about the logo on the front and not the name on the back. Who cares what's on his head...I'm always waiting for the mask up water bottle squirt anyway
95Crash
Well I always thought the "J" design on his old helmet was kind of dumb. Yeah I said it. + 1. I know it's historical and all, and has meaning, but it wasn't that great. It looked like someone started to draw the NJ logo but quickly ran out of room. At this point in his career, he deserves to do whatever he wants with his helmet.

Who cares what's on his head...I'm always waiting for the mask up water bottle squirt anyway I am all for goalies expressing themselves, but how is this more of an expression of his personality than the classic mask? Any hockey fan who saw the old one would immediately think "Brodeur". This logo would look really nice on the chin but it looks dumb on the front. And it may have been created for golf towels but it has clearly become a marketing tool used simply for profit. His brother and friend who helped develop it were watching practice. The website is launching Friday. 2+2=4. They're going into the Marty business. I will be shocked if there is not an MB30 store on day 1. I think Marty should take advantage of every opportunity and I think that he has every right to make some cash off of the wins record. The Devils and the league obviously will. What bugs me is that he put himself front and center for no reason. Most people who will buy MB30 stuff (me included) would have bought it anyway without the huge logo on the face of his mask. Finally, I am annoyed because that logo is nice for merchandising or as a secondary. It looks horrible as the dominant mark.
Kulags
do not like. it looks like a tramp stamp on his forehead. wouldn't surprise me at all to see some skank at the rock or down the shore sporting that design on the small of her back. Prucenterrules
I like the new mask but i'm not sure if I want him to wear it. Oo well. As long as he still does what he's done his entire career I could care less what he wears.
The 29th Pick
Sorry, but I am old school (like Lou). Remember there is no "I" in T-E-A-M. And there is no "B" either. Ditto, if the "MB" wasn't so obvious ...maybe, but its all about TEAM in Jersey, I thought the old mask was kinda lame, but.....not a fan of this new one. adavid
Well. Not the greatest looking thing. If he starts losing, we'll blame the mask. If he wins.... Otherwise, who cares. It could be worse. And really, history or not the other mask looked like a deflated J. And why not market himself? The NHL practically ignores him since he doesnt score 50 goals a year. RunninWithTheDevil
It shouldn't be about the initials on the front of the helmet, it should be about the logo on the front of the jersey. Bad call marty
Eltab213
I don't see what all the fuss is about. I like it. This You can tell its preseason when fans begin to theorize upon the numerous motives of Marty to "cash in on records" and "selfishly promote himself" with no consideration for the team, simply because he changed the paint on his mask to include his intials, something which other goalies have done in the past and continue to do without being labeled as "selfish." So why is Marty being labeled as selfish for doing it? and even if he is doing it to make more money, who gives s sh!t? He might as well capitalize on being the greatest goalie ever, because the Devils marketing staff probably wont.

brodeurrocks
I like the old one....it is old school and tradition. That said, I could care less if he wore Plante's old piece as long as he keeps on winning.

Other goalies haven't replaced their existing representation of their team's logo with a personal logo to advertise a website. It's apples and oranges. For the record, this was the right way of doing things and actually would have been pretty cool:

It's apples and oranges. For the record, this was the right way of doing things and actually would have been pretty cool: +1 and Winner. This is exactly how he should have done it, if he wanted to add a logo for himself. What the hell happend to this Lou comment that was made recently regarding the 3rd Jerseys: "Your logo is something you should be proud of as an organization. You want your players to be proud of that. When we start putting players names in the front of the jersey and the logo's on the back, that is the day we will get a third jersey." Is this just the case for 3rd Jerseys and doesnt apply to Marty and his helmet? Mr. MB 30??
