Didn't they do this like 2-3 years ago where they marched out about 6-8 members of the 95 team across Championship Plaza in the middle of a snowstorm?

I vaguely remember what you're talking about, but this is for the 20th anniversary. They're expecting 20+ players and coaches there.

Hmm well that would be an improvement.  The one I am talking about is where they honored the 3 Stanley Cup teams against the opponents they played in each year's SCF.  It looked very hastily put together and not planned well at all.  They were only able to get about 5-8 players from each team to come out (and that includes Marty and Elias who were still playing  as well as the establish Alumni people).

Wish it wasn't against a popular opponent as the ticket prices will already be inflated.  Plus wouldn't they want this to be against a lesser opponent to draw more on an otherwise underwhelming night?

The date they picked probably has a lot to do with availability for a lot of these guys. Trying to coordinate the arrival of 20-some guys from all over North America can't be easy. That's probably the date that worked best for everyone. Plus, it sounds like it's going to be a big reunion weekend for the guys, so a Sunday evening games makes sense from that perspective.

Ah that's true, forgot about that perspective.  I will try to see if I can make it to the game but if the price is looking a bit too heavy for me I will be watching on TV.

Yeah they did. I was at that game. I watched from the upper concourse because it was real cold that night.

That year they did a night for all 3 cup teams when we played the respective teams from each SCF.

Damn '95 was SOOOO much fun :) It would be great to see all those guys again, thank them all again for bringing home the Cup and letting them know we'll never forget. Will have to blow the dust out of my wallet for this one :)

I know the 2K team gets all the praise among the three best.. but imo, the 95 team was the greatest TEAM in Devils history.

That team really took a while to find its stride...they were 10-12-5 after 27 GP, and were getting a lot of criticism (they were showing signs of what the '96 team would look like for much of the season).  They then went 10-2-2, had a little 2-4-1 slump to end the year (all four losses came by one goal), then went 16-4 in the playoffs.  They were 28-10-3 after that 10-12-5 start.  They were pretty solid offensively over those 48 games:  131 GF (still pretty good, especially since GF totals were rapidly dwindling around league), and they allowed only 83 goals.  That's a +48 goal differential over the 48 GP...very similar to the '93-'94 regular season performance (+86 over 84 games).  The overall lackluster regular-season record (22-18-8) kind of obscures the fact that they were much a better team than more casual fans remember...a lot of people think they were only good in the playoffs.

wow.....20 years I have just about every regular home game program from that half season, every playoff program, every playoff give away X 4 and my unused playoff tickets still in sheet form.

Think this stuff will be worth anything one day ?

Watching a 25 year old Marty and the boys sweep the mighty Red Wings was by far my personal highlight as a Devils fan. I had my seats still with the other cup wins but nothing compares to the first one.

I really wish the Devils would put out a list soon of the players/coaches who are going to be there, especially for the alumni game on March 7th.  There are a couple players I would really like to meet if they have an opportunity before or after the game.

I don't think I will be going to the Philly game though.

i wonder if neal broten would be there. supposedly he left in bad terms but would love to see him

He and Lemaire didn't always get along.  This was one of their bigger conflicts:

Also wasn't very fond of New Jersey in general from what I remember...just wasn't his thing.  Think he spent his first season as a Devil (30 games after he was traded + the playoffs) living in a hotel, and apparently was really having a tough time being away from his family.

After a meh-ish first full season with the Devils in '95-'96, he was supposedly so miserable the following season that after just three games on the ice, Lemaire said that Broten had to go.  One of those deals where it probably would've been better for everyone if he went elsewhere after the '95 season ended.

Get the crash line back for this....And of course Jerseys own Jimmy Dowd.

I had met Johnny Mac.Billy Guerin and Jimmy Dowd at Freehold Raceway while the lockout was going on.....Dano was a no show.

I find that funny because I would say around 91-93 time frame Daneyko and MacLean were supposed to do a free signing at Chimney Rock Ice Rink in Bridgewater and while MacLean showed up, Daneyko was an unexplained no show as well.
