Shanny is Coming...

What better way to stick it to the Rangers for not wanting him back?

Heres an excerpt from an article that claims Shanny will be making a decision this week.

Shanny Making a Decision this Week

"It's got to be the right fit," Curran said. "The team has to be competitive and in a desirable geographic location, since Brendan's family is likely going to stay in New York."

NJ is the closest.... Shanny Time

Well the only other competitive team in a desirable location for him is the Flyers since NYR doesn't want him.

Our powerplay has stunk, and we do need a PP specialist. I'm more open to this now than I was weeks ago but I still don't really want Shanahan.

oh yeah...just what the Devils need. lets spend anything we have left under the cap on a forty plus year old player that was never very fast, doesn't kill penalties and doesn't handle the puck very well and is a defensive liability.

and when holik comes back, we can dump the PECO power play, and have it sponsored by the AARP.

after the home and home with Washington there are four very winnable games. Tampa, Islanders and Florida twice. By then several more players will be back, at least practicing, and we can get going again :koolaid:

how can u be so sure?

I doubt he would want to go to Philly... As long as the bridges arent too badly burned between Shanny & Lou, I think its a very high possibility that we will see him here at least for the interim... His family lives in NY, Id think NJ would be his first choice over Philly or NYI... He said he wanted to go to a competitive team, that rules out NYI and Im not saying Philly is not competitive, I just think we're a better and closer choice then Philly. Especially if this is his last year. He will get signed for a very small price. CMON LOU, finish that PANERA BREAD!!

Please God no.

What he said. This would be a total panic move... and I don't remember Lou acting out of panic much. The team should be close to back together (other than Marty) by mid December. At that point, there will be no need for Shanny.

I like Shanny, but I liked Stevens, too. The time has passed.

It's not happening. As Lou himself stated back in September, "where will he play?". Lou said he has a tremendous amount of respect for Shanny, and still talks to him once in a while, but with Rolston hopefully back soon, there still isn't a place on the team for him, unless he becomes a 25 year old big puck moving D-man.

Don't be fooled.

With the current roster....we are on the same level as NYI...mental edge goes to the Islanders as they will have DP back sooner.

As the roster gets healthy and improves...so decreases Shanny's opportunity to play.

I can believe that in the same forum that contains multiple threads detailing how "Langs has lost a step" that we are still considering Brendan Shanahan.

It hurts that much for this franchise to taste defeat I guess.

More Shanny Proof to NJ

Albeit this article is from awhile ago, it does state this:

"Shanahan, who rejected an offer from Lou Lamoriello, to sign a free agent contract with the New York Rangers two years ago......"

There proves Lou still shows interest in him, and if we could pick him up cheap I cant see why they wouldnt. At least for the time being until we get over this injury plague.
