redruM
I'd go easy on Zidlicky. The guy single handedly won many games for us this season. I think he is having a great season and I would love him back. Sal...gtfo Sorry but cannot go easy on a vet who almost single handedly cost us last nights game... WTF was he thinking... And now we have Sal & Harold on the ICe w/ Larsson in the AHL... seriously I think LL needs to have his sanity evaluated...

Chimaira_Devil_#9
I cant see us getting the wins we need to have a shot. I think we likely go 5-3-2 the rest of the season if we are lucky.
Mike Brown
At least he didn't say it was doable. That's major progress for him. What are you even talking about? Mike Brown
We need at least 91 points, that's 16 more. We could squeak in if we go 8-2-0 depending on how the rest of the pack does. I don't see it happening. http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL/Eastern/Metropolitan/NewJersey.html That's just it. We're not supposed to see it happening. Hot streaks needed for us to make the playoffs can never be predicted. The unexpected happens all the time.
EdgeControl
as good as Merrill was I have one issue with his play, in the future ,never do anything to have reimer pulled!!! (btw the leafs fans are now attacking his wife on twitter LMAO) Jon looks like he's over any vertebrae issues cant wait to get him in a full off season NHL conditioning program and build up his skinny body. hopefully Larson still has a future here I want to see them paired next year with green and fayne as #1 and #2 pairings. does gelly stay as a 3rd pairing and a PP specialist, I would think so. Can we get another year out of the Jagr-Zajac-"insert name" line? btw zubie wasn't horrible with them do we move ryder? or do we need his sporadic goal scoring Edited March 24, 2014 by EdgeControl

You were constantly using the word "doable" to the point where SEVERAL people noticed it and joked about it previously, long after "doable" no longer really applied. Not really that hard to understand for most. Anyone hanging onto hope at this point can believe that it's "possible", and that's strictly by the numbers (Devils still being mathematically alive, etc.). But as I've pointed about before, that's all we've got. There's not one sign that points to them being able to pull of 16+ points in their remaining 10 games. as good as Merrill was I have one issue with his play, in the future ,never do anything to have reimer pulled!!! Anyways, bottom line is much more crazier things have happened. And bottom line is, if the Devils pull this off, it wouldn't be a miracle. What seems like impossible outcomes are always possible. I once saw a team go 10-29-4 through 41 games. That same team went 28-10-1 through another set of 41 games. If you want to go about this in a more rational point of view, how about the fact we have 7 more games against doormat teams. Granted, we just lost to a cellar dwellar team not too long ago. But still, you'd rather face those teams than top tier teams. We also have 6 of 10 games at home where we are much better than on the road. If we're using 91 points as the cutoff, 8-2-0 would be the needed record. The most likely games that will be losses would be Phoenix and Boston. Islanders x2, Panthers, Sabres, Hurricanes, Flames, Capitals, and Senators are all teams we should be able to beat. Will we make it? Probably not. Can we make it without it being some sort of miracle? Absolutely. Edited March 24, 2014 by Mike Brown

I can't imagine that's not accurate. He hasn't seemed to have a problem getting those one year deals, and based off his performance from this year, I am sure there are a few teams that wouldn't mind having him to bolster their playoff-bound lineup. I'd prefer that team be us, but Jagr has no loyalty to NJ (or any team in the last few years, it seems), so I have no doubt he'd move on to another team if they could get him there. Colorado Rockies 1976
MB, the problem is that there's no such thing as "should beats" for this team...everytime you mention "should beats" re: the Devils, you're giving them more credit than they've earned. It's been proven time and time again this year that there's no true cakewalks for this year's Devils. You posted your 10/10/10 point% split, and that illustrated the point perfectly (though that's not why you posted them). Their combined point% against the bottom 10 was about .550%. If they were cleaning up against bottom 10s to the tune of .650+ to this point, though it wouldn't be a guarantee of anything, I'd feel a little better about their chances. BTW, the Devils themselves ARE a bottom 10 team...currently 21st in points. But it all goes back to the same thing, and I posted it in response to your 10/10/10 post...what we've learned about the 2013-14 Devils through 72 games is that it almost feels random as to when they'll win and who they'll beat...they're not particularly great or awful against any particular class of team (though they definitely don't match up well against some). CD#9 is probably right...this team likely goes about .550-.650 in point% the rest of the way, which means a season total of about 86-88 points. The home ice hasn't helped them either (I was hoping it would)...Devils have to win Tuesday just to go 3-2 on this stand.

Lateralous
Saw a blurb in the Star Ledger about Jagr not likely to re-sign here if the Devils don't make the playoffs...basically said time is short and his is running out, and he wants to play for a contender. That's odd because when he left the Flyers I thought it was because he still wanted a top line roll and if time were so short for playing on a contender, why claim you won't report if traded as of only a few weeks ago? Hopefully he signs back on with us and if the Devils flop again next year, he can be flipped at the deadline.
Neb00rs
Always nice to see the Devils win, but unless I see them win the next five (I don't care how ugly the wins are, just win for fvck's sake), or at the VERY least go 4-0-1, I can't even begin to think about what everyone else is doing. All things considered, as much as losing four out of five hurt, it really could've been a lot worse...it's still very bad, but at least this morning it feels like there's the very slightest of chances they might squeak in. One regulation loss anytime soon probably kills that though. My MO right now is going to be to watch the games to see how the youngsters do and to root for the kids to play. If they win another 2 straight, I'll start to let myself get my hopes up again for a miracle. What are you even talking about? If you're as old as your profile says, you certainly don't act like it. Making these childish snarky comments is just not needed man. Ummm, I think he was actually sincerely saying it was an improvement. Saw a blurb in the Star Ledger about Jagr not likely to re-sign here if the Devils don't make the playoffs...basically said time is short and his is running out, and he wants to play for a contender. This is part of the reason I haven't jumped on the "I love Jagr" train. I mean, I love what he's done for us but as far as him saying that he likes it here and wants to return, that's just Jagr being Jagr. I'm sure I can dig up similar quotes from his time on the Rangers, Flyers, Stars, and Bruins. He's a hired hand with no loyalty to anyone or anything but his own caprices. I think he's getting bored. Everything he says I take with a grain of salt. I have no issue with this.
mfitz804
Hopefully he signs back on with us and if the Devils flop again next year, he can be flipped at the deadline. I truly believe that was the plan for this year, but he messed it up by leading the team in scoring and we were still somewhat "in it" at the deadline. Kind of. Mathematically anyway. DevsMan84
Jagr went from Philly to Dallas, who didn't have much of a shot at the cup, but he still signed there. That plus the fact that most articles coming from nj.com are semi-trollish over the past year makes me not put too much stock into them. Triumph
I think before Jagr didn't have much of a choice, he was coming off a bad playoffs in both seasons and he's old and he's born in Europe (yuck). Now he won't have a bad playoffs to be coming off of and he's had an excellent full season, so some contenders might be interested.
EdgeControl
Jagr may want to find a happier medium between being the needed first line scorer at 22 mins a night, and a vet filling in a role on a strong contender
