It’s kind of nice seeing a superstar actually see a consequence. It feels like the suspensions are incredibly random.

The way i see it, most of the time suspensions or non/suspension are pretty fair.

More often than not it's fans not getting what they want / expect based on how they perceive something. 90% of the time they are convinced its a hit directly to the head cause the head does get touched but don't understand that its not the primarly point of contact. Or they see the feet leaving the ice during / after the hit and believe that's illegal.

There's that classic flowchart re:  NHL disciplinary measures...it's pretty funny, and though obviously over-the-top, it's not entirely inaccurate.

I truly don't really see who we could be interested in that played last night in MTL? Considering we'd likely be looking to make a hockey trade and not just pickup someone to fill a hole, so someone pretty young and with terms... but then why wouldn't MTL keep these guys? They appear to be retooling.

Caufield, Suzuki and Romanov are the only players i'd care about and we don't need Suzuki and i can't imagine them considering moving Caufield.

I know Lehkonen is on the block but not sure why we'd bother to go for him.

I agree, I don’t see them as a good trade partner for us.

Was thinking the same. No one on Montreal interests me too much besides the guys you mentioned, and we aren’t getting any of them for Pavel Zacha, so….. yeah lol.

8 x 8 for a guy who’s averages about 55 points per 82 games. Nice contract. Really shows what a steal the Hughes contract could end up being

And will be 36 when it’s done. Pretty big overpay on money and term by SJ.

He’s been much more productive the past four seasons (70 points per 82 GP, including this one).  That’s the guy they’re paying that money to.  But agree completely, get the feeling Jack’s going to be the much better buy over time.

It might not even be over that much time.

Not one player on Montreal that’s worth anything could we get for zacha. And guys that are worth it zacha will not get them here. So not sure about this story as a whole is about.

I’d take Caufield in a heartbeat. Throw him on Jack’s wing for the next decade. Those two were magical together on the US team. No way they trade him though. And like you said - especially not for Zacha. Maybe Zacha + Subban would get it done.

I’d also throw in Boqvist and Jon Gillies.
