Risky
I know we've discussed this before, but now it seems a little more pertinent. The only rules here are that: (1) You only get one person. (2) Pretend everyone is a UFA and can be signed. (3) Pretend everyone goes for the same price. You should keep in mind that this player should also fit with the Devils' system, as this is meant to help the Devils (ie, Bure may be a great player, but is he really Devils material?) I'm interested to see what people think. My thoughts: (1) Mike Modano - my top choice. Fantastic player - exactly what we'd need. Too bad it's a pipe-dream. (2) Alex Kovalev - the sniper we've long sought. May not be a total pipe-dream, but with the way he's doing now, it sure is close. (3) Todd Bertuzzi - huge and dangerous with the puck. Need I say more? (4) Sergei Fedorov - My only concern here would be his Niedermayer-esque "not showing up for every game" syndrome. Fantastic player, probably one of the top 3 raw talents in the league. (5) Joe Sakic - No explanation needed. Another pipe-dream, however. What does everyone else think? NJayDevil
This is if they needed it if they were like 3-8 INSTEAD of 8-3... 1. Mr. Forsberg 2. Kovy 3. Sakic 4. Federov 5. Gaborik 6. And it needs to be said cause he is just amazing.....Mario.
sundstrom
1) Forsberg 2) Bertuzzi 3) Federov 4) Thornton 5) Allison (healthy of course) Big #1 Centers. That's what this team really needs.
Manhattan Devil
1. Peter Forsberg 2. Sergei Federov 3. Joe Sakic 4. Alexei Kovalev 5. Jerome Iginla I agree with Sundstrom. We need some #1 centers.
Blackjack
My top 5: 1. Forsburg 2. Jagr 3. Thornton 4. Pavel Bure/Kovalchuck (I'd love a pure offense winger for Gomez.) 5. Fedorov

Nieuwy25
These lists so far really make something apparent to me - but I'm not sure what the reason is . . . Do you guys (except Risky): 1) hate Modano because he's a Star (or some other reason) 2) or really don't think he's one of the greatest players in the NHL? This really does amaze me! Blackjack
I don't hate Modano, I agree that he's one of the best in the league, but I'd prefer Thornton or Forsburg over him, and I didn't want to just list centers.
sundstrom
Modano is awesome, and outside of Federov, the best two way forward in the NHL. But for the East, I'd rather have a bigger center that can bang as well as score. Plus Modano has had a history of injury (yes, so has forsberg...but he is better). msweet
1. Madono - Best there is Both Ways 2. Forsberg - Ditto....but durability? 3. Bertuzzi - Scares the other NHLers 4. Nolan - Brylin-Gomez-Nolan...say no more. 5. Jagr - A baby, but Elias-Gomer-Jagr...say no more.
Chort
give me Feds - Mogs - Bure..........especially with the no-obstruction NHL

The only rules here are that:(1) You only get one person. (2) Pretend everyone is a UFA and can be signed. (3) Pretend everyone goes for the same price. Sakic. Not as talented as Mario but he's far more durable with several great years left, responsible in his own end, clutch in the playoffs (as we well know ) and also class all the way. There is no second choice IMO. Although I wouldn't mind Mogilny back...if only because that would reduce the # of whiny posts around here by a third

Nieuwy25
Obviously, after my earlier comment, my pick would be Modano. He's just an amazing player who can do everything for you.
littleton_devil
Only one??? Make it Joe say it ain't so Sakic Many of you have been watching too much ESPN, Forsberg highlight footage ... though obviously skilled, he's the biggest one-on-fiver in the NHL!
