Devils look to gain ground on first-place PenguinsNHL.comsmall.pngStatssmall.png

PENGUINS (40-22-5) at DEVILS (39-23-3)

Last 10 -- Pittsburgh 5-1-4; New Jersey 4-5-1

Season series -- The Devils have owned Pittsburgh this season. They are 4-0 in the season series and have outscored the Penguins by a combined 14-2. Martin Brodeur has shutouts in the last two meetings, including the one that gave him the NHL's all-time career record. The teams haven't played since Dec. 30.

Big story -- A four-point swing is on the line at Prudential Center Friday night. The Penguins own a four-point lead over the Devils for first place in the Atlantic Division after losing in overtime Thursday night in Carolina. Pittsburgh is 4-0-1 since the Olympic break. The Devils got back into the groove with a 6-3 win over the Rangers Wednesday.

Asked if he has any insight into the Penguins that could help the Devils, Skoula said: "Yes."

Has he been asked?

"No. We can talk about it tomorrow before the game," he said with a grin.

Any guesses as to what the "insight" might be?

"Score more goals than them." Or, since he's a hockey player.. "you know, we gotta work hard and put some shots on net. You know, we have to get the bounces, but we need to work hard. You know, 110%."

haha "Psssst! Hey guys! You didn't hear it from me, but ... the Penguins usually lose when they get outscored. Seriously, keep this on the D.L."

Our team needs to go into this game realizing how important it is, how it can change our season, how it can make us regain our full confidence and put us on a 2 game winning streak for the first time in over 2 months. Pitt played a tough overtime game last night against carolina..we need to take advantage of that...we have some awesome players on our team and they need to go into this game "knowing" that they can win tonight.
