mort4345
The Devils were doing alright up until the injuries started. And let's face it, the Devils aren't a deep team so that hurt. Also, they got some good bounces those first 14 games or so. They also got stellar goaltending. But now the Devils appear to be in a downward death spiral - and they need to pull out of it real soon or the rest of the season drama will consist solely of whether Lou is going to keep or donate our first round pick.Let's face it, as much as it pains me, this team is really starting to miss Parise. Just the energy alone - I have to see this guy play basically every two days now that I live in Minneapolis. He was great on the PP, PK and SO. So that's a huge loss. And he fit perfectly into DeBoer's system - a high energy forechecking system. However, now that the former captain has been removed from the equation, there just isn't enough talent on this team to make up for that loss.Throw in the fact that it feels like we have eight No. 5 defensemen on our team and perhaps one of the least talented captains in the league, and it truly gets painful at times. In short, it doesn't look good right now, but this season can still go a number of different directions from here on out. And if there is one thing I've learned after watching this team for at least two decades, it's that predicting how a Devils' season will turn out at any one given point in time is a fool's errand.Just when I thought I was out … they pull me back in. ScoreMoreThan3
Reasons to fire Debour: Moose had already been named starter next week after losing 6 games in a row. Oh and starting Jansen over Mattuea. What a fvcking riot. Now it's getting funny.

PWW
I can live with the Devils losing, but I can't live with them changing nothing and hoping for different results. How can DeBoer say that Moose isn't to blame and that the offense needs to pick it up and then throw Janssen out there over Matteau? I mean honestly. And to already announce Moose as the starter for Thursday? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. What fvcking game is he watching where he thinks that's a good idea? Something has to be done and fast. This team is bad and getting worse by the minute it seems.
NJDevs4978
I think Pete's worried for whatever reason that there'll be a mutiny in the room if he benches Hedberg. Which is problematic in itself.
Satans Hockey
I'm embarassed to be a Devil fan after that disgusting display by the mongloids in the crowd tonight. And Pete's stubborness is costing the team a playoff spot. What happened?
NJDevs4978
Let's see...for starters 1) The 'Kinkaid' chants when it was 2-0 after a goal that was NOT Moose's fault 2) The cheering when he was pulled 3) The morons sitting behind me that were a steaming pile of negativity and stupidity all night. At one point it was all I could do to avoid turning around and going off on one of them when he exclaimed how he'd never been so embarassed to be a Devil fan...as if this is worse than the MacLean garbage two years ago. And he was chanting 'we want Kinkaid' literally all night. Edited March 6, 2013 by NJDevs4978
Zubie#8
Many season ticket holders in 120 are there to be comedians and 'entertain' themselves and others around them. Its unbearable some nights.

NJDevs4978
What galls me is they could have built on that finish late. They played their best five minutes in like three weeks when they finally relaxed after getting some real goaltending. And Kinkaid played well enough to get an actual start, where you could have at least gotten some positive momentum going with the home crowd for Thursday. Now it's just going to be the same ****. Even Rex Ryan wasn't this stubborn with Mark Sanchez when he finally pulled him. Edited March 6, 2013 by NJDevs4978

Devilsfan118
It's hard to bench a 40 year old veteran I'd imagine, especially a goalie, and especially for a rookie.
Devil Dan 56
It's hard to bench a 40 year old veteran I'd imagine, especially a goalie, and especially for a rookie. Definitely. We see it as starting the hot hand. The players may see it as a friend losing his job. I'm not saying its right. I'm just saying that Deboer is smart, and he's surrounded by smart hockey people. They know how bad Moose is playing. There may be an underlying reason we don't know of.
NJDevs4978
I'm starting to think that myself. He's not stupid. He's starting moose for a reason. Just because he has a reason, doesn't mean it's not stupid. All he's doing is making it worse for Moose, especially at home where the crowd's ready to lynch-mob him. Not to mention he'd never play MARTY five in seven days and now Moose is basically getting that schedule.

maxpower
It's not benching the damn goalie, it's a 5 in 7 and logic dictates that the backup kinda has to play sometime during that time period. And by play I don't mean 26-27 minutes. Is he saying that he can't use the backup goalie? Marty's gotten a blow in most if not all of the 3 in 4s. It's silly and I'm not sure about the keeping the natives happy reasoning. If anything they're going to think he's a lunkhead.
enjoythesilence
I'm embarassed to be a Devil fan after that disgusting display by the mongloids in the crowd tonight. Booing Moose and chanting Kinkaid and We want Marty was disrespectful. As my brother said, Moose has done so much for this team. He has been stuggling, but so has the whole team. Like Moose can't score goals on the other goalies. Whatever was working for the Devils the last 6 minutes of the game, they need that for full 60. EdgeControl
was sal short shifted in the third, maybe its just wishful thinking on my part or an offensive move because we were down. But man o man does he have troubles with speed and quickness. hockey sense and positioning arent helping , he's outsticked and outskated constantly can we move him to 3rd pairing when playing against fast teams (every team not named the devils) btw 22 mins and kovy couldnt race crombeen to a loose puck, can you say fatigued? at least he hooked his balls good! And it's not like Hedberg is getting a lot of work in these games, I think Kinkaid might get a start if Hedberg were facing more than 20 shots a game. I don't agree with the keeping the natives happy reasoning either.
Derlique
This team is not going anywhere if Salvador continues to play 20+ minutes a game. I know he was a big part of our run, but it's obvious that he's the weak link on D. Volchenkov does everything Sal does and isnt caught out of position nearly as much. Goal #1- I'll admit that Hedberg gave Sal the puck with some pressure, but he's gotta get rid of it quicker. He tried to stickhandle through the Lightning player and was stuck in the mud when he got stripped. Goal #2- This one infuriated me the most. On a 3 on 2, Salvador tries to step up and break up the play. Predictably, he gets passed around which creates a 2 on and leaves Fayne and Moose vulnerable Goal #3- Moose probably should have stopped this, but it was comical seeing Salvador chase Killorn around like an idiot. Yes, Killorn is a dman. Goal #4- Sal makes a bad pinch, which creates a 2 on 1 and the Lightning score 10 seconds later. Maybe I'm being too hard on him, but he has been downright awful all year. The good news is, we have two more years of this and since he's the captain, he won't be benched. I don't get on Lou often, but I think this rivals bringing back Rolston. At least Rolston was coming off three straight 30 goal seasons. Everyone knew signing Sal to a multi year deal would bite us in the ass, but in year one? Triumph
Bringing back Rolston was a way better move. Signing Salvador is probably the worst signing he's ever done.
Derlique
Bringing back Rolston was a way better move. Signing Salvador is probably the worst signing he's ever done. I'm not arguing with Lou's thought process at the time, but in hindsight, it was awful. No one could have predicted Rolston's rapid decline, but giving out a 4 year deal to a 35 year old is never a good idea
EdgeControl
At least rolston could shoot and was brought in for a limited specific purpose. salvador was a complete over reaction to losing zach and a playoff epiphany. you cant bench him but you can hide him for 12 mins
