Marshall
Was expected but still good that he got away.
Triumph
I expected 1 game. Nice to see the NHL be lenient after screwing us over consistently.
Quinn01
Fined $2500. I was really expecting a suspension especially considering the upcoming opponents.

Colorado Rockies 1976
Not really on topic, but Elias really has been one of the most pleasant surprises this season. Roughly a point-per-game offensively? Couldn't really have expected that. He has a decent shot to finish his career with 1000 points...even an outside shot to finish with 900 by season's end. ScoreMoreThan3
I'll take it. Were going to need him with our tough scheduling. I think that's huge that he didn't get suspended. Now.let's hope Larrson only misses a game and that Foster gets sent down Albany.
devilsrule33
I thought Elias' play was fairly dirty, and probably deserved a game, but I think even Shanahan realized he passed on too many questionable hits on Devils' players. Devils were lucky to only get a minor on the play. Still confused how the boarding hit on Clarkson has, not escaped punishment, but any review whatsoever. I hope that Shanahan took the context of the game into account - that three Devils had been run with 0 penalties called. Elias just figured boarding was legal now.
LucifersDog
I am pleased with results losing Elias would be a big hurt.

MDPucks
Patty's stellar reputation throughout his long career certainly came into play in the fine-only decision. Edited February 3, 2012 by mdsieve
Devil Fan
Elias hits like Stevens these days and I hope he will continue to do so...
Ollie McKraut
I regret missing this hit...haven't seen Elias get really physically aggressive since two years ago when he tried to make Steve Ott's head bleed

EdgeControl
Maybe our financial troubles are helping us out. it would be in the best interests of the league to have us make the playoffs! less bail out money needed, and every little point helps Edited February 3, 2012 by EdgeControl
mouse
Patty's stellar reputation throughout his long career certainly came into play in the fine-only decision. +1 Dirty hit from a clean player. Merits a penalty/wake up call, but not a suspension.
JustinZ
He's lucky. Very dangerous hit. Sorta reminded me of the Lemieux hit on Draper.
Devils731
So there were 3 fines in the game? Clarkson got drilled twice in the numbers, dangerously.
thefiestygoat
I know I should be happy he wasn't suspended given the way the league treats the Devils but this fine still rubs me the wrong way.

jim777
I missed the game and the hit - is there a clip? And Patty can do no wrong: that's my story and I'm sticking too it.
newarkdev01
Honestly as I was watching the game it was pretty Chippy by the point Elias threw the check and while I may be an Elias apologist I just fealt he was sticking up for his teammates who were getting pegged as well. Legion15
I expected 1 game. Nice to see the NHL be lenient after screwing us over consistently. yeah but since Shanny got his VP position, he's been turning into the Safety Nazi. Fining people and handing out suspensions for any hit along the boards practically, even if there was no in-game penalty! I could see if it was called in game but to go scrutinize video probably frame by frame after the fact and then issue punishment is a little extreme. Pretty soon they'll outlaw hitting entirely and it'll just be pond hockey. Might as well lose the defensemen, isn't it their job to put big hits on the opposing forwards?
