Devilsfan118
Ah okay, I see. Thanks Tri and ATL. The trade seems to make sense though, for both sides. Let me just say - thank da Lord above that Clarkson isn't on his way back here.
Satans Hockey
He had a limited one. He had 14 teams he could be traded to. Thanks, didn't know that.
GoArmySports
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 47m47 minutes ago Here's bottom line on Clarkson-Horton trade: Horton's contract wasn't insured. CBJ paying him to sit in stands and he's longshot to play. Is Clowe's contract insured?
Colorado Rockies 1976
Wow. That's all I've got.
NJDevs4978
WHY DIDNT WE JUST TRADE CLOWE FOR CLARKSON?!?! Because we're not that stupid? Columbus gave up cap flexibility and got zero savings contract to contract. Yes they get a live body but is CLARKSON really worth it? Chimaira_Devil_#9
On another note I just read Nathan Hortons story on his current injury situation. Really feel for the guy. A truly horrible situation. I hope he is able to make a choice which he can come to terms with.
ghdi
Because we're not that stupid? Columbus gave up cap flexibility and got zero savings contract to contract. Yes they get a live body but is CLARKSON really worth it? I wouldnt say it's because we're not stupid. I don't think Columbus is stupid here. The difference between us and Columbus is that we spend closer to the cap and obviously have more financial flexibility. They don't. The $5M they were paying Horton obviously was hurting them financially b/c it was for nothing. The cap space isn't valuable to them in the first place. Getting Clarkson back gives Columbus more flexibility in the long run. Horton provided nothing to them in terms of value for the $ other than LTIR cap relief which they didn't need/use because they're in a different financial situation than the Leafs who bleed money and don't bat an eye. Even after this deal, Columbus still has more cap space than us. I wouldnt wanted to have done this deal even for Clowe. I want nothing to do with Clarkson's absurd contract. Triumph
I mean I would've considered this deal for Clarkson if they picked up some of his salary. But clearly they wouldn't do that.
CarpathianForest
Wow! I hope Clarkie feels kind of stupid for having the hubris to think he was the second coming of Wendel Clark! He's gone the way of Gomer.
NJDEVS1730
He's gone the way of Gomer. So we'll see him back here in how many years, then? Edited February 27, 2015 by NJDEVS1730
ghdi
So we'll see him back here in how many years, then? 2-3, depending on if Lou is still GM then. I think Columbus buys him out at some point, but its not advantageous financially for at least a few years.
