Sickman
Another Jay Grossman client Yeah which would be good if we had some damn cap space. I really want Kovalchuk to stay and now 1.5 million has been tied up in our backup goalie?. I know some aren't crazy about him but this franchise needs starpower like him. mmajeski06
Like the signing...takes some of the pressure off Marty.
Neb00rs
Same agent as Kovy and Volchenkov...Jay Grossman I don't trust this Grossman *Lou calls Grossman* Lou: hey, we want to sign Kovy Jay: ok, but frst sign Volchenkov to a big deal. Lou: ok, but then Kovy right??? Jay: yup *signs Volchenkov* Lou: Kovy now? Jay: ok but first sign Hedberg to be your backup Lou: I don't know Jay: Hey it's just your backup goalie, no big deal Lou: I guess you're right. Ok. *signs Hedberg* Lou: now Kovy? Jay: Sorry he just signed with LA plus your cap room situation isn't so good.

nyrsuck26
I like the signing, but I wonder why they gave him a no-trade?

thelastonealive
I've always liked Johan Hedberg. Awesome nickname, and this allows me to make Mitch Hedberg jokes ALL FRIGGIN SEASON LONG! At $1.5 million, hopefully this guilts us into using the backup more often. And clearly Lou's trying to make sure that Jay Grossman doesn't talk to anyone else today. Bryan
Nice pickup. Hopefully this can keep Marty fresher for the playoffs. And another Grossman client? Foreshadowing perhaps?
msweet
just thought this was a funny comment Hedberg signs for $1,5 million to be Brodeur's back-up in NJ. (Or roughly $500,000 per game)by ian_mendes via twitter at 5:34 PM

maxpower
the reasoning for the NTC is obvious. this is a squeeze play signing.

Allthegoodnamesweretaken
That's a lot of money for a guy who may play 5 games. Unless Lou is sticking to his guns and Marty is really going to play less this season.
ZeroGravityFat
solid goalie, i would trust him with any game.
jagknife
no doubt in my mind this is finally the year marty puts the team first and sits a respectable number of games
NJDevs26
I like the signing, but I wonder why they gave him a no-trade? It is amusing, maybe he was afraid he would actually have to work for that $1.5 million if he got traded.
Vic Rattlehead18
So much for Danis wanting to come back really bad. Maybe this actually does mean Marty will play limited games...AKA only 60 games.

Satans Hockey
This is funny, I mentioned to a friend earlier that Hedberg was the best of the lot of ufa goalies if denis didn't resign. If you look at the list of ufas he was really the only/best option other then Denis.
Mitico12
Beats the holy hell out of YAWN DANNY. Peace bitch. Don't let the door of the PATH train hit you in the ass on the way out. He probably won't take the path as he's got enough money to hire a car. Nice way to be insensitive towards a guy that really didn't deserve that "well wish" from you by the way. I'm starting to question the class of the fans on this board. Classless comment IMO. If you would have said that to Langenbrunner, then perhaps I could understand.
