Zajac & Palms to NYI

Well a first and a 4th for 19 games of Zajac and Palms is not that bad if you think of it that way. Plus they both could just re-sign with us in the summer if we really miss them. Zajac may just see this as his chance to make a run.

That being said i hope they don't do well in the playoffs cause i want a good first rounder out of it lol

Makes me wonder if Fitz and Ruff were unhappy after that leadership meeting. Just went and got rid of em

Two veterans on expiring contracts, and we have plenty of young talent in the pipeline. This is exactly how the deadline is supposed to go for us.

Obviously efforts to extend Palmieri failed. Maybe Travis wasn’t offered the opportunity to return, maybe he was and he passed.

Like I said, neither guy was worth a 1st, so I guess trading both got us a better return? Ish?

Exactly, both were gone.

As much as anything can, this fees like the end of an era.

Which might be what we need, in retrospect.

Yup, so get the best you can for giving up 19 games of those guys. It’s a no-brainer.

This is where I wish there were a significant conditional asset tied to the deal if the Isles go far so I could root for them while also rooting to get another high pick.

I’m in the minority I’m sure, but once guys leave, I don’t give a sh!t if they win. Thanks for your service, now you’re either the enemy or I don’t care about your success.

It’s now best for the Isles to have a precipitous fall so we get the best possible pick, so I will root for that.

I hope the Islanders win the whole thing .... and we hit a home run with the 31st pick.

Looking through the final picks of the first round for about the last decade or so and the best player was probably actually an Isles pick (Brock Nelson)...

I certainly don’t get too excited about players doing well other places, but it was nice to see a guy like Coleman win the Cup. If they’re in the finals anyway might as well root for them.

I know John Carlson was late first round, but that's in the late 2000s. It's definitely a longshot to get an impact player there. But it does happen once in a while.

I hate that Zajac is gone. The kids were killing it on his line. Blah.

Ruff had already broke that line up anyway though. Hughes was centering Kuokkanen and Sharongovich last night. Zajac was with Johnsson and Merkley.

Worst part of this is probably Zacha continuing to play center instead of wing, where I like him better.

Ugh. Good point.

It was fine to see it. I didn’t root for it.

Rooting for the Isles when the placement of the pick we just traded for hangs in the balance, that I shall not do.
