MadDog2020
Would Hanifin really be BPA though especially if teams in need of defense pass on him? I still think BPA is subjective anyway. This quote is from the TSN mid-year rankings: '"We usually debate the top three picks in any draft for quite some time at our scouting meetings," one scout said. "This year, it took about one minute to say, McDavid-Eichel-Hanifin and there was no debate. We moved on to who's No. 4 almost immediately."' nessus
Anthony Beauvillier looks like a good second round pick for us if he's still on the board. It would be really awesome if we got lucky and Svechnikov fell that far.

Mayday
Why is Hanifin better than Rantanen or Barzal? Never understood the BPA when players are so close especially at different positions. Edited April 11, 2015 by Mayday
SterioDesign
I went to see the wildcats - moosehead playoffs game. Conor garland is projected around 86th in the draft, hes 5'8 but fvck hes he special with the puck. 129 pts in 67 games. He's making stuff happen every time hes on the ice. Id really rather see us take a chance at players like that rather than the typical safe pick who might make the 4th line someday.
'7'
Yes, you always go with BPA. no you don't
William D'Aquila
no you don't Yes you do. Drafting for position is a recipe for disaster. If the Devils draft Hanifin, they can trade away one of their other young dmen for an impact forward, or flip Hanifin at a later date. But right now, where this organization is, they need to draft a forward. The cupboard is bare.
NLinfante
I'm actually inclined to take Hanifin if he's available at 6 or 7 and I wouldn't have said that 2 months ago. I realize that we have a ton of young D-men and, hopefully, many of them turn out to be solid NHL players. There is clearly a need up front, however, there are many ways we could fix our forward problems. Regardless of how difficult it could be, there are still possible trades and free agency. That's where you hope your GM can work some magic, which he just did with Cory two years ago. No one is more sick of watching this pathetic attempt at offense than me, but you cant reach for a need when you're drafting in the top 10. If we're in the second or third round and you decide that F's are a priority, so be it. Edited April 13, 2015 by NLinfante
Devilsfan118
All this talk of drafting BPA is irrelevant, really - when they win the draft lottery on Saturday it should be pretty obvious who they'll pick.

Chimaira_Devil_#9
Lou has just told TG and Chere that if the devils win the lottery they will be keeping the pick. If not they will consider trading it. Lou's words are you have to be open to everything.
MadDog2020
@Ledger_NJDevils: Devils will keep 1st overall pick if they win the lottery. Lamoriello said he'd consider trading 1st round pick if team doesn't win lottery
DevsMan84
Eh, doesn't mean a whole lot. I think that is the mentality of every team's GM in the 6-10 range at this point. Still if Marner is on the board and we use the pick to trade Kessel I will be pissed.

But not for that pick.

I never understood that part lol it took like half a second for that lazer to blow up Alderaan and came out of nowhere... Not as if people on the planet were all randomly looking at the sky at that very "half second".... saw the lazer coming and cried out in terror lol But those are the things we just decide to ignore haha Edited April 13, 2015 by SterioDesign

Mayday
What separates Hanifin from Rantanen? Hanifin from Barzal? Why is Hanifin always considered the BPA? I don't get it. Its a stupid idea to consider when prospects are on the same tier.
