This is actually one of my fav thing to do on this board lol It's guaranteed fun

This was a game that has its share of “Aw sh!t here we go again” moments…killing that double minor was SO huge.  Was great to see the Devils pull this one out.

Shout out to Vanecek btw. I started to get annoyed at one point thinking Jarry was going to steal another one, but Vanecek made some really clutch saves himself. Feels so good to not get out-goalied.

Long as hell travel day for the Jag family, got the boys settled in bed in time to watch the 3rd. Had the nervous energy here right until Jack potted the 4th goal.

but goddamn I love when VV stands on his head and we can trust a goalie again

I’m also drunk off 2x 11% beers from Aldi’s

We’ve certainly had a few disallowed this season that looked exactly like that. The refs were on some weird sh!t tonight.

Wow...but pens can keep it. Still, the league needs to look into the officiating more closely. It's not about the Devils only. It's about refs interpreting questionable moments with more consistency. Devils have definitely had more than enough this season.

not only was pittsburgh allowed to keep the goal, the devils were penalized for waiting for their replay team to decide whether or not to challenge, something you see in every single game since challenges entered the sport.

And that too. I'm not ready to call it a bias but I wonder if other teams had as much sh!t going on as our team.

i can guarantee that yes. Every single teams has fans completely convinced that the league is rigged against them lol

And i watch a awful lot of hockey, any teams and officiating is just bad and inconsistent in general. I mean even in the playoffs when its the best of the best refs remaining its still bad.

I’ve said all along that I’m not really sure how much Ruff is truly contributing this year, compared to his first two seasons…I suspect his assistants are doing much of the heavy lifting.  That’s why I said that even if the Devils did let Ruff go sometime this season, it might not be much more than a “change for shakeup’s sake” kind of move, but given Brunette’s presence, I do think it’s a card Fitz could play if the team doesn’t show signs of stabilizing soon.  It’s going to take more than a one-game winning streak to prove that things are turning back around.

I agree that it will take more than just today.  As far as, who gets credit for good play or bad play? I don’t know.  We’re not in the clubhouse to fully understand the dynamics at play between the players and coaches.  How much blame fell on Recchi and Naz?  Which, Naz he inherited.  Like I said, this team is still very young and have been through the adversity of going through a full rebuild from the ground up and sucking for a long time.  Now, they are dealing with the pressures of high expectations and maintaining a high compete level day in and day out.  I think we saw a team with mounting frustrations from Haula snapping at a reporter to, most recently, Hughes slamming his stick on the ice.  I really liked today’s win.  They showed some of that tenacity and overcame, what I think, was a poorly officiated game.  I felt there were too many borderline calls and I still believe Haula was driven to the net by the defender.

41 G and 48 A for Jack over his last 72 NHL games.  And for obvious reasons the assist total should be even higher.  But this is getting deliciously close to 50 G and 100 point territory.

he’s on pace right now for 46g/48a/94 points which, for my money, would be the best season by a New Jersey Devil ever.

And he’s doing all of this with the anchor Haula on his wing. Damn, boys.

Patty had 40-56-96 in 2000-01. I think Jack has a shot to top it though.

He was an insane +45 that year as well.   That’s still the best season I’ve seen out of a Devil forward (yes better than Hall) but I hope Jack can surpass it in the near future.

Crazy as it sounds I rank Hall’s and Elias’ 2003-04 seasons very slightly ahead because they almost stubbornly did what they did, without tons of support.  The 2000-01 team was stacked.

He’d absolutely be on pace for 100+ EASILY if Haula could EVER bury a damned puck.
